- Lead the overall design and re-implementation of the Forbes.com site. Effort included migration from an IIS, ASP and SQL Server architecture to a newly designed architecture using ATG's Dynamo, JBoss, Apache, Interwoven TeamSite, TIBCO Rendezvous (quote architecture), RealMedia OAS (ad serving), Verity K2 Enterprise, Oracle, Apache Xalan and Solaris.

- Overall responsibility for continuing development and enhancement of TheStreet.com's content management system, subscription commerce and registration systems, marketing intelligence and hit reporting systems.
- Oversee architecture and design of all major new systems and enhancements to existing systems. Director of Commerce Technology Director in charge of design, implementation and operation of a custom built commerce, subscription sales and user management and authentication system for web-based financial news provider.
- Lead a team of 9 developers through six months of development to build TheStreet's user registration and subscription sales system using Art Technology Group's Dynamo Product Suite (Dynamo 4.1, Personalization Server 4, Commerce Server 4), ClearCommerce Merchant Engine 3.7, Oracle 8.0.5 and Apache 1.3.6.
- Responsible for technical design, staffing, architecture and coding for all e-commerce, user registration/authentication and marketing development initiatives at TheStreet. Technologies used depended on specific needs of the project but range from (in addition to those mentioned above) fastcgi, perl5, mod_perl, mod_jserv and JSP.
- Implemented and performance tuned our webserver farm using a custom version of Apache 1.3.6. Additionally, I designed and developed C Apache modules for authentication and usertracking.
- Member of core group of technology leaders at TheStreet.com who formulated coding standards, development tools selection, policies, etc.

Senior Software Developer Core Applications team member responsible for the technical architecture and implementation of a large scale internet commerce site and mobile audio distribution system and its support infrastructure.
- Designed and developed a large scale commerce site for the sale of electronic audio books and business content using C++, Oracle 7.3, Netscape Enterprise Server 2.0 NSAPI for Unix and BroadVision OneToOne.
- Built tools using C++, Perl5, DBI and PL/SQL for use by content/audio editors and business managers enabling them to control what appears in the store.
- Created ActiveX controls with Microsoft Visual C++ and ATL enabling Audible to play audio samples on the site using our proprietary Codec format
- Researched and began implementation of a Java version of our proprietary Codec using JDK 1.0.2's non standard sun.audio.* API (for use in an Applet version of our sample player).
Time Inc. New Media (AOL Time Warner's Pathfinder site)

Applications Developer Development of interactive applications and an applications infrastructure for Time Inc.'s Pathfinder website.
- Customized Sun's Java Server for Money Online and ported large applications to it using the Servlet interface, ObjectDesign's (now eXcelon) ObjectForms templating engine and ObjectStore for Java.
- Developed the Fortune ActiveDesktop channel exclusively for MS Internet Explorer 4.0 using CSS1,Dynamic HTML, ActiveX, Java, VBScript and CGI (C code).
- Developed the Money Manager Webtop exclusively for Netscape 4.0's Netcaster product using Javascript Stylesheets, Javascript 1.2, extended HTML and CGI (C code).
- Designed and developed Money Magazine's Portfolio Tracker, which tracks a user's investments, using C++ and ObjectDesign's ObjectStore.
- Implemented Money Magazine's Quick Quotes server using C and Gari Software's feedhandler API.
- Maintained our S&P Comstock trading feed, the feed handlers and building custom re-useable applications infrastructure objects to access the trading data (Java class accesses data through JNI calls to C API, Perl5 object accesses data through Xsub to C API.)
- Developed various modules implementing stock graphing, including a configureable Perl5 module solution using GD.pm (used on Fortune 500 site), a VBScript and Java solution (used on MSIE Fortune Channel), and a Java applet solution.
- Programmed daemons for use by other applications. For instance, a daemon, written in C, which retrieves user registration data from a secure database, and a daemon which reads weather data for the 5 boroughs (written in Perl).
- Implemented mail handling Perl5 program which receives Adds, Updates and Deletes from Netscape's In-Box Direct program and performs the appropriate actions on a Sybase subscriber database for People Magazine's E-Daily email subscription service.
- Developed various "search" applications with Verity and Sybase including Fortune 500 Search, Hoover's Company Capsules, Thrive Online's Medical Database, Find a restaraunt and Find a recipe.
EDS (Electronic Data Systems)

Research Systems Engineer
Research and Development Division, Austin, Texas:
Design, development, and testing of state of the art systems and technology related to EDS business interests.
- Continued the technical development and definition of a major systems re-engineering tool and expert system (COGEN) used to convert large Cobol based legacy systems to newer, more modern platforms. Implemented major enhancements to this tool on a per-customer basis using Lex, Yacc, C, Perl and Quintus Prolog. Ported a version of this application from a Sun Sparc station (running Solaris) to a Win32 application using Borland C++ and the Object Windows Library.
- Assisted in the extension of the System to address the niche market of the Year 2000 problem.
- Assisting in systems administration tasks for the R&D lab including HTTP server maintenance and configuration as well as home page design, HTML forms and CGI scripting using Perl.
- Designed and developed a system using Perl, C and Gnuplot which collects, stores and utilizes stock tick data over a Unix network. A CGI application graphically depicts trends in stock prices and volumes over time for display on the Intranet via WWW.
Systems Engineer
Health and Benefits Division, Newark, New Jersey:
Provided system and technical support for a large, Cobol based mainframe system used by over 30 Blue Cross Blue Shield plans for EDS Health and Benefits largest customer, the National Account Service Company.
- Worked directly with the customer, managing large system enhancements from initial analysis and design phases through production implementation on projects such as Electronic Data Interchange of eligibility information and data transfer subsystems for Blue Cross Blue Shield drug vendors.
- Developed and coded numerous applications for the customer including a Carry-Over Credit application (developed in Cobol) used to provide claim data to other health insurance carriers, an Electronic Data Interchange "browser" and file converter (coded with Borland C++ and OWL) and an automated financial balancing program (developed in assembly language and various mainframe utilities) used to reconcile over $10 million worth of health insurance claim payments per week.
- Regularly requested by our customer as a systems consultant to assist them in meeting their business requirements.
- Coordinated activities between multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield companies in several states to successfully implement a large, multi-phased project.
- Assisted in administrative duties such as candidate interviews, hiring recommendations and employee mentorship.
